A Small Milestone

We just wanted to make a little note to ourselves because this certainly isn’t much to brag about. But we had our first day with 50 organic visitors (visitors that come from search engines – people clicking on the organic listings) yesterday. 6/21/18.

All but one visitor was from Google since Google still owns the search engine game. Baidu was the other, we get a surprising amount of visitors (relatively speaking) from Baidu.

The goal is to just keep writing and growing. It’s easy to get discouraged when there isn’t much going on. Not much traffic, no real income. But hopefully, in a year or two, we can look back on this post and remember when we had just 50 people a day and we can say we just kept going.

Thanks for reading.

Update: On 7/5/18 we had our first day over 100 (117) organic visitors.

What Are The Best Webcam Sites To Start Off With?

If you are new to the adult webcam industry and have never done any kind of webcamming before, this article will give you a few easy steps to help you succeed in the webcam business.

If you have never cammed before the best advice is to visit the websites that you are interested in camming for.  Whether you saw the website online or perhaps a friend referred you.  There are two typical types of webcam platforms.  There is pay per minute sites and the tipping sites.

For most starters, my advice is to avoid the tipping sites.  You will most likely want to start off with popular websites with good traffic.  My first recommendation is Streamate.com.  They will start you off where you can make a decent per minute rate.  As you spend more time on the site, and you get increased ratings you are able to raise your rates.

Streamate and What You’ll Need In Order to Succeed On the IT Side
You need a very good camera.  Streamate loves HD, especially 1080 HD.  You can purchase a Logitech C920 webcam.  It’s very inexpensive, I believe you could find it on sites such as Amazon or eBay for under $50.00.  Be sure to download Streamate’s OBS.  This is their personal streaming for HD webcam.  This will help with your placement.  Placement consists of your bitrate, frames per second, and roundtrip time.  They have a page that you are able to check your numbers.  Trust me, this is very important.  Part of the rating system is your feedback from customers and of course, the number of hours spent online working.  This is how you can get yourself to be a page one model.

Let’s talk about the pay shows.  Streamate offers two types of shows.  Private and Exclusive.  Private shows are, more or less, group shows.  If you have a member in paid chat, other members who enter your chatroom will be paying your pay per minute rate for private shows.  Exclusive is one on one shows.  Therefore, while performing a live Exclusive chat, nobody else can enter.  That comes down to rates.  You always price your Exclusive chat shows for more money.  For example, you can price your Private shows at $3.99 per minute, but Exclusive chat charges $7.99 per minute.

Breakdown and advice of what you should do in each type of chat.  Most girls who are successful will do an average toy or sex show in Private chat.  They may offer full nudity, stripping, finger play.  As an Exclusive chat show, the girls are offering more, because it is more money per minute and also a way to get the guys to want the Exclusive chat shows.  You will always bank more on Exclusive.  You can offer Roleplay, Fetish Shows, such as JOI, CEI, SPH, Outfit Change, Phone Sex, Big Toys, Fuck Machines and the list goes on.

If you are new to the industry I will definitely suggest a pay per minute site.  You can try Streamate as suggested.  There are other pay per minute websites such as ImLive, iFriends, Cams.com, and many more.  Most of the girls’ startup site has been Streamate, including me.  The site also has a lot of other wonderful features included such as Gold Shows, Interactive Toy Shows, Weekly Pay and more.

Once you get used to the camming industry, there is the option of tipping sites down the road.  The girls who work at those sites are experienced usually and are big-time hustlers.  They get online and work their asses off for every tip.  Not for nothing, but everyone who works in the adult industry and the cam industry, we all work our asses off.  It does not matter if your female, male, trans, straight, bisexual,  it is still a job.  With a job comes responsibility.  Nobody is going to hand over their money no matter how attractive you are.  This work is about personality and sexuality.

That is why there are many women who are older, heavier, super skinny, not considered a “Playboy” model and those ladies are making some serious bank.  It’s a service industry, this is a cross between sales and sexy customer service.  Also, do not do anything you are uncomfortable with.  For example, if you do not like or do anal in real life, do not do it on cam!  Only do the sexual acts that you feel comfortable with!  If you follow some of the advice in this article and take the time to study girls who are similar to yourself on these cam sites, you will succeed.

Then again, nothing in life comes easy!

CamsRated.com… Now With 100% More Hentai!!!

The site has been live for not even 3 months. This seems completely crazy to me, it’s been non-stop work on getting the content up, design, trying to gain some social media traction, etc. The good news is the site seems to be growing well. And most of all it’s a blast to work on.

So lately I’ve been trying to do too many different things at once. This is pretty much par for the course. Spread out in a bunch of different directions and then wonder why none really worked as well as I’d hoped.

In an effort to simplify things I’ve decided to just bring my other main thing here… hentai. Hentai is great and so are live cams. Who cares if the site is called CamsRated.com? CamsandHentaiRated.com would be a shitty name anyway.

The main thing we’ll have here are hentai games, well info on hentai games, you’ll have to play them elsewhere.

Before long we’re going to also start checking out some of the fan subscription services like FanCentro and OnlyFans. You’ll see lots of cam models pushing their channels with private Snaps and such.

Later!

Splitcamming – Using Your Time Wisely as a Camgirl

Guest Author: Raven Winter

Working as a camgirl or guy is not like your average 9 to 5 job.  There is no salary or hourly wage.  Therefore, we have to make the most of our time while working in the cam industry.  Some days are super hot and tons of traffic.  Dead zones are there too when it’s like a ghost town.  We all know from experience, you can sign on one day and make $100 an hour and be done with your shift so fast.  Perhaps, you have an appointment for your child or with a doctor, so you log off and come back.  When you come back, nothing is happening.  I think we all know what I am talking about.  How about the days you log into your “main” site and you’re literally making $9.00 per hour.  This is part of our job, this is the industry.  We are commission based paid sex workers.  Let us find a way to increase your earnings.  I always say, “Work smart, not hard”.

So “splitcamming” is probably what you will want to do.

What exactly is “splitcamming”?  Camsplitting is using software that allows you to broadcast across multiple sites. Camsplitting is very commonly used on very new camming sites. That’s because these sites don’t have tons of customer traffic yet, therefore models will split and still perform on their other sites. Camsplitting software can also perform some other actions, such as watermarking.

You can split your time between websites.  Choices that are good are pay per minute sites, such as if you were to split cam.  I would choose Streamate and ImLive at the same time.  I suggest any type of sites that are similar.  I say Streamate and ImLive, or Cams.com because they are generally very similar.  These are paid private show sites.  So, by being online on all three of these websites at once, your increasing your numbers to get a paid show.  If one site or all three sites, traffic is lame, you now tripled your chances at making money and making your financial goal much earlier in the day or evening.   You could do MyFreeCams and Chaturbate at the same time.  They are also rather similar and work the same.  You can use the same games as your topic line on both Chaturbate and MyFreeCams.  Tipping prices can be the same.  50 for Ass, 100 for Tits, you know what you expect from your token rates, so by flashing on one site, you may excite the guys on the other site.  This I have actually experienced.  A member from Chaturbate will tip you for ass, and MFC is seeing it also, now a MyFreeCams member is tipping for tits. Since these are similar sites, you get the basis of my idea as far as splitcamming these sites.

For starters, you will need a quality HD webcam.  One of the most popular and suggested webcams is the Logitech C920.  I personally recommend it.  You will also need splitcam software.  You can download VerySoft Webcam Splitter.  You can download this for free, but you will need to pay for the full version.  It is only $19.99 for a license.  I have had my license for over 5 years now, used it on new laptops and no problems.  It was the best software recommendation by a community of other camgirls.

Other great splitcam software is ManyCams, SplitCam, WebCamMax, SoftService and XLoveCam.  I still prefer VerySoft.

These are the simple basics of running your software.  You now split your webcam.  Super easy, you can cam up to probably four different websites all at one time.  Now you are using your time wisely.  Nothing is more horrible than sitting in an empty chatroom.  At least if one of the sites you are working doesn’t seem to have much traffic pulling into your room, you can flip between window tabs on your computer and see what is going on on your other sites.

When first starting out splitcamming, I would suggest starting with only two websites.  You need to get used to integrating yourself streaming live in more than one place.  Like previously mentioned, splitcam similar sites.  As you get yourself accustomed to split camming, add more.  I have splitcammed on four sites at once.  Just be on your game!  Don’t forget to close out all of your other chat rooms in you get a paid show!  I think we have all accidentally done that.  However, this could lead to getting your account banned.  You can’t be nude from the waist down on some of the camsites, and others you might be giving a free show.  Take your time!

What Is It Like To Really Be a Camgirl?

Guest Author: Raven Winter

I can only imagine what people wonder about this question.  Well, I am not a full-time camgirl, however, I have worked part-time as a camgirl for several years now.  Personally, it is a fun job, it can make you feel powerful, beautiful and like a celebrity sometimes.

However, the fact is it’s just another job.  Also, it really depends on the girl herself.  For some woman, they last forever in the industry, others try it and really feel it’s not what they anticipated and quit.  We all have something different, but the same to offer as a camgirl.

Myself personally, well I am an older woman, so I fit into the “MILF” category.  My fans consist of mainly younger fans, I also have fans my own age and older.  However, in reality, I am an actual mother of three teenage children.  So this role fits me.  I am comfortable with what I do.

Camming isn’t really such a bad gig.  I always call this job, “The work smarter, not harder job”.  I can go online some days and make over $100 in an hour.  Does this mean this is the norm for every day? Absolutely not.  Sometimes, you may sit online for 3 hours and earn $35.00 between 5 websites.  The bottom line is that nobody ever tells you about this camming thing, it is a sales job.  You are earning a commission.  Know how to sell your brand.

The personality question?  This is a rather popular question amongst customers, fans and just some of us in general.  Does your cam persona and your real life personality differ or are they similar?  Myself, personally, I am my real life personality while live on cam.  I am a Jersey born and raised girl.  I am sarcastic, funny, goofy, nice and at the same time, I don’t take crap.  Because, if you choose to work as a camgirl, you will deal with a LOT of crap.  You will have freeloaders.  Freeloaders are broke men who want FREE flashes or kisses.  You will get trolls, who try to say you’re fat or ugly because they are on another side of a keyboard.  Guess what does this bother me?  Oh my god, please not at all.  I just ban and laugh at how pathetic you are.

This is perhaps a quick interview of what is it like to be a camgirl.  I will break down the facts for you.  You need thick skin, a good personality, and want to be your own boss.  Study the camsites, study girls who would be in your camgirl category, if you desire this way to earn income.

Quite frankly, I am 43 years old.  I am not ashamed of what I do, I enjoy when I am online camming.  I have always been open-minded sexually and not embarrassed or afraid of what others think.  Believe it or not, I have friends and family that I know this happens to be one of the ways I earn income.  Whether someone agrees with what I do or not, it is not up to them.  It’s up to me. It’s my life, and I am proud of everything I do.

I obviously can’t cover every aspect of camming in just one post.  However, it is just a fun job and if you’re afraid to show your privates to a paying client and get down and dirty in a private chat it’s probably not for you.  It’s just Internet porn and fantasy chat!

Why Running an Adult Website is a Pain in the Ass

Before we start complaining we’ll say this: Running an adult website is fun and rewarding, in many ways. You get to look at porn and make money at the same time. For some people, this is probably a dream come true. For the most part, we’re in this group. But there is one aspect that is really a pain in the ass.

We’re going to be frank with you, we don’t have a giant office or really any office at all. Most of our content is written from homes and home offices. You can pretty much do anything online that you can do in person at this point in time. But one of the joys of working remotely is that you can work from anywhere you want. People that have worked remotely for any length of time know you can get a major case of cabin fever. Let’s go to a coffee shop, the library or the park on a nice sunny day…

It’s not what it looks like! I’m working!
Not so fast there buddy. See every one of these people around you? Well, when they walk by and see people fucking on your laptop screen one of a few things are going to happen. They will ignore it, they will ignore it then tell someone who will confront you or they will confront you. Because you are now a pervert. Look we’re not even saying they are wrong, what kind of weirdo looks at porn in a library? The kind that whacks it on the bus… and probably at the library.

But you’re just doing your job! We are fortunate enough that Cams Rated doesn’t really have much in the way of risque imagery on our actual site. It’s mostly text and mostly safe. But the problem is basically everything else we do is NSFW. Our promotions, our social media, any research we’re doing on sites we’re reviewing, it’s not ideal.

We’ve tried those screen things that only let you view it from a certain angle… We don’t really have a lot of confidence in these. Sitting with your back to the wall works, if you’re able to find seating. But mostly we find ourselves doing “safe work” like posting to the blog, checking analytics, and writing down the things we should be doing if we weren’t in public.

This is honestly a small complaint about a great job. But it is one we had never even considered until we got into the adult industry. So enjoy yourself but be smart and don’t end up on any lists you don’t want to be on.

Happy Adulting!

Here’s What We’re About…

Welcome to CamsRated.com. The name pretty much tells you what we’re about, we like cams and we like to find the best sites. For us and for anyone reading here.

The cam industry keeps growing and growing with no end in sight. Live cams are something that can’t be simulated. You have to have a model on the other end in real time. The live aspect of it, to us, is way more exciting than pre-recorded porn.

While it seems pretty simple, you listen, watch and chat with a model, cams keep adding new things. One site will innovate and it will slowly catch on to other sites. Interactive toys you control, 360-degree cameras, and simulated sex with syncronized toys are just some of the newer features. And cams will keep innovating along with the technology available.

The great thing about cams is you can spend nothing and still get a lot. Spenders obviously get more, lots of perks, attention from models, shows that you have to spend for. But it’s fun to browse even if you have no intention of getting out your credit card.

There are 1,000s of cams sites out there. Most of them are simply another sites cams with a different look. Big porn sites do it as well as little affiliates. It’s called a white label, basically their product with your brand. Now there’s nothing wrong with this but our cam reviews are going to be focused on the original sources. Covering a bunch of basically identical cam white labels would be pointless.

We’ll cover the ins and outs of the major sites, their features and what we like and dislike about them. Most, if not all of them, will be sites that let you do a lot for free. This is pretty much the business model of the whole industry anyway. Try before you buy. We’d be very wary of any cam site trying to get your payment info without seeing anything live.

Cams will be the focus, as the name says. But we may expand into other areas, porn sites, adult games and newer things like paid private Snapchat model accounts. But for now and the near future we’ll be doing cams.

Hope you enjoy and find the right cams for you!
